ReProKombi: Reception and production of compound words by bilingual children

Composites, i.e. compound words such as apple tree, are a frequent and important component of the German language.
The acquisition of compound words is currently not well researched. In particular, it is unclear whether multilingual children face challenges in the production and comprehension of compounds, as words are often composed and formed differently in other languages than in German.

We want to find out how monolingual and bilingual children aged 2 to 5 years - or children who have had regular contact with the German language for 2 to 5 years (e.g. in kindergarten or at school) - deal with these words. In our study, children are allowed to playfully name and show pictures in the Child Lab.
