Project group: Grammatical and mathematical skills in children of primary school age
Numerous studies have shown that the acquisition of mathematical skills is closely linked to children's language development. Current studies suggest that grammar development in particular plays a special role, as it has been shown that grammar skills acquired at an early age have both an immediate and longer-term effect on children's mathematical skills (see e.g. Viesel-Nordmeyer et al., 2020; Röhm, 2020). As part of a systematic literature review that has already been completed, the state of research on the relationship between grammatical skills and mathematical learning will be recorded and implications for practice derived. Theses (Bachelor's or Master's) on various issues in the context of the overarching project topic are possible, both literature papers and empirical work (e.g. on children with math difficulties).
