Internship guide (school-based, Bachelor)

Guidelines for the preparation of the internship report in the Pedagogical Orientation Internship (POP) (2nd year of study) in the subject-specific profile/rehabilitation science profile (B.A.) with a focus on language support

General information

  • Please submit the report four weeks after the end of the internship to Ms. Mau in the office or in room 5.406. You are also welcome to send the report as an e-mail (pdf file).
  • You will be notified by e-mail when you can pick up your internship report.
  • The following guidelines for preparing the internship report are intended as a checklist. You can also use the opportunity to focus on personally relevant aspects and customize the report.
  • The internship report is graded.
  • The internship-related courses are: Language and Symbolization Skills (WiSe) or Systematics I (SoSe). The internship, on the basis of which the internship report is written, must be completed at the earliest after the 3rd semester in which the internship-related course was attended.

Formal requirements

  • The report has a minimum length of 10 and a maximum length of 20 pages.
  • Font: Arial, font size: 11; line spacing: 1½ lines
  • Please cite according to the guidelines for manuscript design of the APA (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association or the DGPS (German Psychological Society).
  • Please pay particular attention to the anonymization of all data.
  • All sources of information such as expert opinions, interviews, etc. must be listed both in the text and in the bibliography.

Structure of the report

1. introduction

  • Career choice motivation
  • Expectations of the internship
  • Own ideas about the requirements of the teaching profession, also with regard to dealing with people with disabilities

2. analysis of conditions

  • Presentation of the school, special features
  • Presentation of the learning group, learning requirements

3. student observation

  • Presentation of an individual pupil of the presented learning group
  • Observation of the pupil in different learning and therapy situations (see appendix)
  • Findings about his language, communication and social behavior

4. observation on a school pedagogical topic

Selection of a relevant educational topic, e.g:

  • Dealing with heterogeneity (does the teacher pay more attention to the whole group or individual pupils)
  • Specific language-promoting activities in connection with the subject matter
  • Teaching methods and forms
  • Dealing with disruptions, etc.

5. first experiences with the teacher's role and the organization of lessons

  • First contacts with pupils/ closeness and distance/ responding to pupils and learning to assert oneself/ first organization of language support situations with individual pupils, groups or the whole class.
  • Develop and conduct at least one lesson, reflect on own first teaching experiences, experiences with cooperation and teamwork

6. overall reflection

  • Have my views changed as a result of the internship?
  • What have I learned? What could I optimize? Have my expectations been met?
  • What was the significance of the preparatory event?
  • What consequences do I draw from the internship for my studies?
