Location & approach

By car

The campus of TU Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West motorway interchange, where the Sauerland line (A45) crosses the Ruhrschnellweg (B1/A40). The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The “Dortmund Universität” S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 suburban train runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and, in the opposite direction, to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg.

The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information is available on the website of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR), and DSW21 also provides an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn (Suspended Monorail System)

The H-Bahn is one of the hallmarks of TU Dortmund University. There are two stations on Campus Nord. One ("Dortmund Universität S") is directly located at the suburban train stop, which connects the university directly with the city of Dortmund and the rest of the Ruhr Area. Also from this station, there are connections to the "Technologiepark" and (via Campus Süd) Eichlinghofen. The other station is located at the dining hall at Campus Nord and offers a direct connection to Campus Süd every five minutes.

By plane

The AirportExpress is a fast and convenient means of transport from Dortmund Airport (DTM) to Dortmund Central Station, taking you there in little more than 20 minutes. From Dortmund Central Station, you can continue to the university campus by interurban railway (S-Bahn). A larger range of international flight connections is offered at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), which is about 60 kilometres away and can be directly reached by S-Bahn from the university station.

News from the field of language and communication

Big S&K team meeting on February 08, 2024

The entire S&K team came together once again for an exciting, interesting and informative exchange and get-together at our own premises.

Many changes have occurred in the S&K team since the last major team meeting in May 2023. Numerous new research projects have emerged in the field of language and communication. At the same time, the team has steadily grown and changed. Both research assistants and many new research assistants have joined the team, which is why the main focus of the meeting this time was to get to know each other. There was also plenty of time and space to share experiences and wishes as well as suggestions for improving organizational structures.

A special feature of the meeting this time was a very informative and insightful workshop on stress management led by Ms. Wiese from the Psychological Counselling Center, for which the S&K team would like to take this opportunity to thank her once again.

The big team meeting traditionally ended with pleasant conversations over coffee and cake from the buffet. The S&K team is already looking forward to the next big team meeting. Thank you for attending and for your valuable support of the team on a daily basis.
