International Day of Language Development Disorders

On October 17, 2025, the time has come again: the International Day of Developmental Language Disorder, which is supported internationally by Raising awareness for Developmental Language Disorder (RaDLD, www.radld.org) and nationally by GISKID , aims to draw attention to developmental language disorder, which is one of the most common developmental disorders in childhood but is often overlooked. There is too little awareness of this in society (see Scherger, 2023).
The Language & Communication team at TU Dortmund University participates in various campaigns every year (educational films in subway stations, free online training, flyer campaigns, etc.). This year, the team will take part in the day with the T-shirts made for the campaign by the universities of Cologne & Munich (thanks to Munich and Cologne for this!) and wear them everywhere they go (inside and outside the university) so that everyone we meet is made aware of the campaign!
Let's work together to help minimize misdiagnosis! Inform yourself and afterwards very gladly all others in your environment about this disorder. If undetected, it can have devastating effects on the well-being, educational biography and social interaction of those affected!
