Location & approach

By car

The campus of TU Dortmund University is located near the Dortmund West motorway interchange, where the Sauerland line (A45) crosses the Ruhrschnellweg (B1/A40). The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, while the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The “Dortmund Universität” S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S1 suburban train runs every 15 or 30 minutes to Dortmund Central Station and, in the opposite direction, to Düsseldorf Central Station via Bochum, Essen, and Duisburg.

The university can also be reached by bus lines 445, 447, and 462. Timetable information is available on the website of the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association (VRR), and DSW21 also provides an interactive route network map.

The H-Bahn (Suspended Monorail System)

The H-Bahn is one of the hallmarks of TU Dortmund University. There are two stations on Campus Nord. One ("Dortmund Universität S") is directly located at the suburban train stop, which connects the university directly with the city of Dortmund and the rest of the Ruhr Area. Also from this station, there are connections to the "Technologiepark" and (via Campus Süd) Eichlinghofen. The other station is located at the dining hall at Campus Nord and offers a direct connection to Campus Süd every five minutes.

By plane

The AirportExpress is a fast and convenient means of transport from Dortmund Airport (DTM) to Dortmund Central Station, taking you there in little more than 20 minutes. From Dortmund Central Station, you can continue to the university campus by interurban railway (S-Bahn). A larger range of international flight connections is offered at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), which is about 60 kilometres away and can be directly reached by S-Bahn from the university station.

The facilities of TU Dortmund University are spread over two campuses, the larger Campus North and the smaller Campus South. Additionally, some areas of the university are located in the adjacent "Technologiepark".

The S&C team is delighted with the research prize

Jannika Böse and Prof. Dr. Anna-Lena Scherger bring the TU's Dr. Michael Brenscheidt Transfer Prize to the department

All candidates were invited to the award ceremony on 17.01.2024 without any knowledge of their ranking. The surprise and joy was all the greater when 1st place, which is endowed with 6,000 euros, went to the Department of Language & Communication and thus to the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences.

Jannika Böse and Prof. Dr. Anna-Lena Scherger were honored for their commitment to research-practice transfer, especially in the "Meerkat Project", in which, in cooperation with the RuhrFutur educational initiative, knowledge about children's monolingual and multilingual language development and language promotion was put into practice in NRW.
