DynPer
The abbreviation "DynPer" stands for "Dynamic Assessment of Perspective Taking in People with Intellectual Disabilities".
Perspective-taking skills are not only important in interpersonal communication(e.g. in storytelling), but are also relevant for academic development. They are closely linked to both linguistic and cognitive functions and therefore represent an interesting area of tension between the two areas of ability. This applies in particular to the investigation and promotion of perspective-taking in people with linguistic and/or intellectual impairments and autism spectrum disorder. The project therefore examines perspective-taking in a broader linguistic-cognitive context. The method of dynamic assessment is used here, in which people are provided with individualized support in the diagnostic setting, e.g. retrieval aids or pictograms. This method has great potential for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2025 to 2028.
