(Meta-)linguistic and metacognitive skills at an advanced primary school age
Predicting later advanced linguistic and metacognitive abilities from the beginnings of joint interaction and communicative goals in early development
This project will examine children's ongoing (meta)linguistic and metacognitive development from a longitudinal perspective, considering the predictive power of early gestural (deictic and iconic) and linguistic skills for later language, metaphor, narrative and theory-of-mind skills. This study is part of a broader longitudinal study that spans 8 years and follows the development of participants from the first year of life to late elementary school age.
Predicting later advanced language and metacognitive skills from initiations of joint interaction and communicative goals in earlier development
This project takes a longitudinal perspective in investigating children's ongoing (meta)linguistic and metacognitive development, considering the predictive capacity of earlier gestural (deictic and iconic) and linguistic abilities for later language, metaphor, narrative and Theory of Mind skills. This investigation takes place within the context of a wider longitudinal study spanning 8+ years of following the participants' development beginning from the age of one and continuing into late primary school age.
