"Dortmund language and storytelling training"

DoSETÜ

The transition from pre-school education to elementary school is a challenge for many children. Children whose language learning conditions are limited are particularly at risk of having their communicative participation and school success impaired. The "Dortmunder Sprach- und Erzähltraining am Übergang" (DoSETÜ-Dortmund Language and Storytelling Training at the Transition) provides children with language support in the last year of nursery school and prepares them specifically for the demands of school in the areas of educational language and storytelling.

The project is funded as part of the "Schools in Focus" funding line (NRW Innovation Fund) by the Wübben Foundation and runs from January 2024 to December 2025. Two cohorts of children are expected to be accompanied from the pre-school educational institution (daycare center or bridge group) to elementary school, with the language support provided being evaluated. The project also uses its own language-promoting audio plays, which are designed and produced in the first year of the project.

The project is supported by audio materials from the Tonies company for distribution to the participating facilities.
