Project group: Giftedness and language/interaction

Language and cognition are closely linked in development. Previous studies have demonstrated linguistic advantages for children with above-average intelligence or giftedness, including in the areas of language comprehension and vocabulary. However, the extent to which high cognitive abilities affect children's conversational skills (language level communication-pragmatics) or narrative skills and interaction remains to be seen. Within the framework of the project group, empirical or literature-based studies are to be carried out that approach the interactional abilities of highly gifted children. In some cases, existing project data for children with autism spectrum disorder can be used.
